Dalbeck Dominates Mod Nationals Main

OGILVIE, MN (05/25/19) - It was a beautiful night to be at Ogilvie Raceway for the final night of the 14th Annual Minnesota Modified Nationals. George Dalbeck picked up the WISSOTA Midwest Modified win, other winners included Shane Sabraski, Mitchell Hribar, and Jake Smith.

Mitchell Hribar and Dean Larson led the WISSOTA Mod Fours to green. Hribar took the lead while Larson and Keith Thell battled for second. Thell would take the spot a few laps in and would try to chase down Hribar as Hribar got slowed down by a lapped car. Thell took advantage and took the lead. It looked like Thell was going to drive away with the win until he broke, that gave the lead back to Hribar. Hribar was able to lead the rest of the way and picked up the win. Tyler Larson took second, he was followed by Dean Larson, Justin Pogones, and Robert Holtquist.

The WISSOTA Hornet feature had another repeat winner as Jake Smith was able to easily pick up the win. Grayson Pratt won the battle for second over Nate Servaty, he was followed by Joseph Wilber, Corey Mehrwerth, and Hunter McDougall.

The WISSOTA Modifieds were up next for their $2,000 to win feature. Shane Sabraski and Mike Anderson lead the field to green. Sabraski was able to grab the lead with Anderson in second. Sabraski pulled away in the early part of the race but around halfway Anderson closed the gap and looked like he was going to challenge Sabraski for the lead. He was able to get within a couple car lengths but could never get any closer than that. In the final laps Anderson looped it in turn two bringing out the caution and setting up a two lap sprint to the finish. Sabraski was able to maintain his lead and pick up the win. Jeremy Nelson of Alexandria finished second after starting thirteenth. Justin Oestreich took third after battling with Landon Atkinson for several laps, and Jeremy Nelson of Zimmerman rounded out the top five.

George Dalbeck and Brandon Jensen led the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds to green for their $3,000 to win feature. Dalbeck took the lead with Jensen in second. Dalbeck quickly built up a huge lead and looked to be the car to beat. On the move was Jeremy Nelson who started fourteenth he made his way into the top five and after several restarts was able to move into second. Even after several restarts Dalbeck was still able to hold the lead and went on to pick up the big Mod Nationals win. He was followed by Nelson, Tony Bahr, Brandon Copp, and Skeeter Estey.
